CBS Philly Duo, Red Cross Set Up Irene Phone Bank

CBS-owned stations in Philadelphia, KYW (CBS) and WPSG (CW) are teaming up once again with the American Red Cross for an emergency preparedness phone bank to help viewers take action as Hurricane Irene threatens this weekend.

Personnel from the American Red Cross are staffing a phone bank on-air at the stations today from 3 to 8 p.m. to provide information on disaster and emergency preparedness and hurricane safety checklists to help families, property owners and businesses plan accordingly.  Viewers can call 1-877-KYW3-ASK (1-877-599-3275).

“We are committed to working side-by-side with our viewers to help them pinpoint their vulnerabilities in the wake of this storm and what measures they should take in order to help reduce its effects as it makes landfall,” says the stations’ GM Jon Hitchcock.

The stations are also providing a complete list of hurricane preparedness tips and emergency numbers at www.cbsphilly.com.
