‘Celebrity Name Game’ Ends After 3 Seasons

The Debmar-Mercury syndicated strip hosted by Craig Ferguson will not be back for a fourth season.

Celebrity Name Game, the syndicated game show from Debmar-Mercury and FremantleMedia North America, will not be back for a Season 4, it was announced today.

Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein, co-presidents of Debmar-Mercury, issued this statement: “We’re incredibly proud of Celebrity Name Game and grateful to the terrific fan base that has supported the show for three seasons. We thank everyone who has contributed to its run, including Craig Ferguson, the show’s extraordinary host who received two Daytime Emmy Awards in recognition of his talent, our amazing partners at FremantleMedia North America, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, their creative collaborators and the outstanding production team.”

The show has consistently finished No. 5 in the genre. In the most recent ratings (for the week ending Nov. 20), it garnered a season-high 1.4 rating, up 8% from the previous week.

Well of course, why would anybody think a show using Celebrity names would last more than 3 seasons? Don’t know what Peter Ligouri was thinking and David Arquette and Courtney Cox couldn’t come up with anything better than a cheesy Game Show hosted by an unintelligible, unfunny guy run on a third rate network after 30 years in the Biz? the writing was on the wall when they came up with the name “Celebrity Name Game”.
