Charlie Rose Wins RTDNA’s Paul White Award

The lifetime achievement award will be presented to the CBS and PBS newsman at the RTDNA annual conference in New Orleans in September. "Charlie Rose is a consummate interviewer, a gifted storyteller and an exemplary broadcast journalist," says RTDNA Chair Kathy Walker.

The Radio Television Digital News Association has announced the winner of the 2016 Paul White Award, which recognizes a lifetime of achievement and service to the profession of electronic journalism: Charlie Rose.

“Charlie Rose is a consummate interviewer, a gifted storyteller and an exemplary broadcast journalist,” said Kathy Walker, Chair of RTDNA. “Always well-prepared, he asks the hard questions and gets substantive answers.”

The award will be presented on Mon., Sept, 19 at RTDNA’s Excellence in Journalism 2016 conference  at the Sheraton New Orleans.

Rose is a co-host of CBS This Morning with Norah O’Donnell and Gayle King, contributing correspondent to 60 Minutes on CBS and host of Charlie Rose on PBS.

RTDNA’s award will not be Rose’s first. He has won Emmy and Peabody Awards, the Legion d’honneur, many honorary degrees, and numerous awards from scientific and journalism communities, including the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism.

In 2014, he appeared on Time’s list of the 100 Most Influential People in the world.

He was born in Henderson, N.C.. and graduated from Duke University with a B.A. in history and a J.D. from the School of Law.

He also attended the New York University Graduate School of Business.
