Chris Cornelius Joins Morgan Murphy Media

The veteran TV executive is tapped to be director of business development. Most recently he was president-COO of Barrington Broadcasting Group.

Morgan Murphy Media said today that it has named former Barrington Broadcasting executive Chris Cornelius as director of business development.

“Cornelius, a seasoned executive with more than 20 years of television experience, will oversee business development, retransmission consents and network affiliation agreement negotiations on our behalf,” said Morgan Murphy CEO Elizabeth Murphy Burns in a prepared statement.

“Chris will bring his strong relationships with CBS, NBC, the National Association of Broadcasters and the TVB to this newly created position,” she said.”Chris has demonstrated that he has a feel for what the affiliates and the networks need and is committed to working with both groups to serve their best interests.”

Cornelius most recently was president and chief operating officer of the Barrington Broadcasting Group until it was sold to Sinclair Broadcast Group. His responsibilities included overseeing the operation and management of Barrington’s 23 stations.

Previously Cornelius was SVP of Benedek Broadcasting, responsible for the operating and performance of 10 television stations throughout the East and Midwest, until October 2002 when Benedek merged with Gray Television.

He currently serves on the board of directors of The National Association of Broadcasters, TVB and is a member of the Television Operators Caucus and current chairman of the CBS Affiliates Board and past member of the NBC Affiliates Board.
