WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

Competitive Week Among Game Shows

Family Feud and Jeopardy tie for the top slot in the genre with a 6.8, while Wheel of Fortune is close behind at 6.4.

The week ending Nov. 19 featured a tie at the top of the game shows for a second straight week between Jeopardy, which featured its annual Tournament of Champions, and usual leader Family Feud. Both shows inched up 1% from the week before to a new season high 6.8 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating.

However, syndication’s No. 1 show overall for a 13th time in 14 weeks was Judge Judy, which was in a league of its own, towering over all programs with a 7.6 for a second straight session, matching its season high and improving 6% from last year’s first-place score.

In other daytime news, Dr. Phil had no trouble outperforming the talk shows for a 63rd consecutive week despite easing 5% to a 3.7.

Ellen DeGeneres, Live with Kelly and Ryan and Maury followed at 2.4, 2.3 and 1.5, respectively, and all were steady at mostly season-high levels.

Also generating ratings heat was Steve Harvey’s new Steve, which matched its season high 1.4 for the fourth straight frame, tying Wendy Williams.

In rookie action, Daily Mail TV continued to be the most-watched first-run newcomer for the ninth week in a row, snaring more than 1.4 million viewers each day with a steady 1.0.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Close behind was strongest challenger Page Six TV, which was preempted in some markets by the president’s Asia trip press conference on Nov. 15 and gave back 13% to a 0.7 in households, but tied Daily Mail among women 25-54.

Among magazines, Entertainment Tonight and Inside Edition both dipped 3% to a 3.0, but remained tied for the lead. TMZ, Access Hollywood and Extra all hit season-best levels of 1.5, 1.4 and 1.3, respectively.

The week’s top-rated daytime talk shows in the women 25-54 demo were:

  • Dr. Phil (1.5, -6% from the week before)
  • Ellen DeGeneres (1.2, unchanged)
  • Live with Kelly and Ryan (1.0, -9%)
  • Maury (0.9, -10%), tied with Wendy Williams (0.9, unchanged)

In the household rating rankings that follow, % change is from the previous week; * indicates a new season-high rating; ** indicates a new season low; NC indicates no change from the previous week; NA mean not applicable.
