Cordillera Names Sean Franklin Tech VP

The station group promotes him from operations manager at WLEX Lexington, KY., to succeed the retiring Andy Suk as vice president of engineering and technology.

Cordillera Communications on Thursday appointed Sean Franklin vice president of engineering and technology. He is currently operations manager at Cordillera’s NBC affiliate WLEX  Lexington,  Ky.

Franklin has been at WLEX for nearly 25 years, holding positions including production manager and creative services director prior to taking his current position overseeing station operations and engineering in 2006.

Current VP of Engineering and Technology Andy Suk, who is retiring, said: “I’ve had the pleasure of working with Sean for many years and I am pleased for both Sean and the Cordillera group. Sean’s real world understanding of television station operations, and the impact of new and developing technologies upon those stations, will be a huge asset to Cordillera.”

Cordillera Communications’ President, Terry Hurley, said: “Sean’s extensive knowledge of Cordillera’s operations, strong relationships both inside and outside the company, and his impressive engineering and technology experience make him the ideal leader in this critical role.”

Hurley, to whom Franklin will report, added: “The timing of Sean’s well-deserved promotion allows him to closely collaborate with the retiring Andy Suk to insure a seamless transition for our stations.”
