Cox Media Group Promotes Three Execs

Cox Media Group (CMG) today named media industry veterans Jane Williams as executive VP of Television and Kim Guthrie as EVP of radio and, effective immediately. In addition, it named Marian Pittman as its new VP of news and marketing for television. Guthrie and Williams report to CMG President Bill Hoffman while Pittman will report to CMG EVP Jane Williams.

Jane Williams oversees all of CMG’s television markets and will manage syndicated programming for the stations, as well as represent the Cox Media Group TV stations to the television industry.  She was named SVP of television in 2012 and prior to that was publisher of Cox’s Austin American-Statesman.

Williams began her media career in television, joining Cox Television’s WSB Atlanta in 1988 as an account executive and rising to sales manager and director of sales.  In 2007, she was promoted to VP of sales for Cox Television and in 2009 became CMG’s VP of sales. 

Williams currently serves on TVB’s board of directors.

Kim Guthrie currently oversees all of CMG’s radio markets. She was named SVP of radio in 2012 and prior to that was CMG Group VP, overseeing television and radio properties in several markets.

Guthrie joined Cox Radio in 1998 as VP-GM for its Long Island, N.Y., properties and has been regional VP of Cox Radio.  She currently serves on the executive board of the Radio Advertising Board. Previously, Guthrie was a television news reporter and anchor.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

In her new role of news and marketing for television, Marian Pittman will oversee the marketing of CMG’s television news brands across the country.  She will also oversee the CMG Washington News Bureau.

Most recently, Pittman WSB Atlanta station manager where she oversaw news, programming, public affairs and engineering and provided strategic guidance for the station’s on-air, digital and mobile platforms.

Her 25-year media career also includes roles at WFTV Orlando, Fla.; WSOC Charlotte, N.C.; and WHIO Dayton, Ohio.
