Cox Taps Kevin Hayes To Lead WJAC

Cox Media Group has named Kevin Hayes VP-general manager of its NBC affiliate WJAC Johnstown-Altoona, Pa. (DMA 101).  For the last four years, Hayes has been the general sales manager of KFOX, Cox’s Fox affiliate in El Paso, Texas. Hayes succeeds Dick Schrott who retired at the end of 2010. He will start his new assignment in early April.  Mark Barash will continue as interim GM until then.

“Kevin brings a wealth of broadcast industry experience to WJAC, and it’s great to promote such valuable talent from within our company for this important role,” said Ray Carter, Cox Media Group VP and GM of WPXI Pittsburgh.

Prior to joining Cox Media Group, the El Paso native and University of Texas at El Paso graduate was a local sales manager at KDBC El Paso. Prior to that LSM position, he was an account executive at KSAZ Phoenix, and earlier in his career he was an account executive in Scottsdale, Ariz., and El Paso.
