Cox Ups Siegler To Tech VP

The current broadcast operations director at Cox’s WSOC-WXAN Charlotte, N.C., Dave Siegler, will oversee technical operations for the entire group.

Cox Media Group is promoting Dave Siegler to replace Sterling Davis as VP of technical operation, the multimedia company said Monday.

Siegler, now director of broadcast operations at WSOC-WXAN Charlotte, N.C., will step into his new role Feb. 1.

Davis retired at the end of 2010, but will continue as a consultant representing CMG on various broadcast industry committees, including the Open Mobile Video Coalition.

“Dave will lead all engineering and technical operations of CMG,” CMG said. “He will coordinate technical initiatives that support CMG’s business needs across its media properties, as well as work closely with CMG Digital to assist in new initiatives and media products.”

While in Charlotte, Siegler oversaw key projects such as the design and implementation of HD news; the launching a mobile DTV pilot station; and the design and management of a new multichannel master control suite.

He assisted on such company-wide initiatives as channel branding, business continuity and system architecture designs.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Sieger currently is conference VP and serves on the executive committee of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers.
