Cromwell To Lead Media General’s Miss. Duo

Media General on Wednesday named Jimmy Cromwell vice president and general manager of WJTV, its CBS affiliate in Jackson, Miss. (DMA 93), and WHLT, the company’s CBS affiliate in Hattiesburg, Miss. (DMA 167), effective Sept. 19. Cromwell has more than 25 years of sales and management experience spanning the broadcast, cable and newspaper industries.

He succeeds Robert Romine, who earlier this week was named president, general manager and group leader for WSPA (CBS) and WYCW (CW), Media General’s stations in Spartanburg, S.C., also effective Sept. 19.

Since 2009, Cromwell has been director of revenue for Media General’s WJTV with responsibility for all sales functions, including its associated websites, digital channels and third-party interactive sales initiatives. He earlier was general sales manager of WBMA Birmingham, Ala., local sales manager of WGCL Atlanta and local sales manager of WJXX Jacksonville, Fla.

Cromwell has also served in sales management positions at WVTM Birmingham and for stations in Orlando and Gainesville, Fla. He also held sales positions at the Birmingham News and Cox Media. He is a graduate of the University of Florida.
