Dalet Integrating News Suite With Harris NEXIO

Dalet Digital Media Systems, a provider of end-to-end production tools for multichannel newsrooms, is collaborating with Harris Corp. to integrate the newsroom computer system module of its Dalet News Suite NRCS with Harris NEXIO broadcast servers.

The project includes the development of an integrated news production and playout workflow featuring Dalet news production tools for editing news packages and managing wires, assignments and rundowns with NEXIO content ingest and distribution across broadcast channels managed by Harris servers.

Dalet and Harris are also exploring ActiveX support to help journalists search for and view video stored on NEXIO servers directly from the Dalet NRCS. This solution uses the NEXIO server system to access multimedia content and metadata during ingest, adding speed and efficiency to Dalet NRCS users where fast access to video material is needed.

“As an open solutions provider, it is our commitment to remain open and integrate best of breed technology with our Dalet solutions. It is our philosophy to let our customers make the choice with regards to the way they want to work, and with which system they want to work with,” said Kevin Savina, Dalet director of product management.

Dalet News Suite NRCS is a complete NRCS designed for TV, radio and multimedia facilities. Highlights include:

  • Planning and assignments
  • Wire service intake, indexing and searching
  • Scriptwriting and multimedia story creation
  • Rundown management and timing
  • Playout and delivery device control (any device with a MOS interface: teleprompters, video servers, CGs, graphics systems)
  • Rapid and easy communications between individuals and groups
