Dave German Named KTBY Station Manager

The former exec from WJCL-WTGS Savannah, Ga., will head Coastal Television Broadcasting’s Anchorage operations.

Coastal Television Broadcasting has named Dave German the new station manager of its Fox affiliate KTBY  Anchorage, Alaska (DMA 146). Coastal also oversees the advertising sales and other services for KYUR (ABC) and KWBX (CW Plus) in Anchorage. German reports to Coastal COO Scott Centers.

German joins the station from the Savannah, Ga., duopoly WJCL (ABC)-WTGS (Fox), where he has been sales manager since 2010. German began his career 29 years ago at WJCL. Through several affiliate changes at WJCL, He was also instrumental in the operational relocation of WTGS from South Carolina to Savannah. A Georgia Southern University Graduate, German served as the duo’s operations manager for more than 15 years.

German’s experience in operations management includes supervising news and commercial production; he created and operated the largest production company in Savannah for over two decades; and also helped WJCL become the first high-definition news station in the market.

Other accomplishments include numerous projects for major sporting networks such as ESPN, Fox Sportsnet, Home Team Sports and CSS Sports. The recipient of numerous Addy Awards, along with being an accomplished trainer involving of dozens of newsroom photographers, control room operators, German migrated into sales in 2006.

That “Production Company” was not a real company. It was the station’s creative services department.
