‘Days of Our Lives’ Actor Sentenced After Crash

JEFFERSON, Ohio (AP) — Soap opera actor Freddie Smith has been sentenced to two years of probation and had his drivers’ license suspended for a year after pleading guilty to charges stemming from a car crash that seriously injured his girlfriend.

The 26-year-old “Days of Our Lives” actor from Los Angeles lost control of his vehicle Oct. 7 in Ashtabula County in northeast Ohio. He pleaded guilty in December to felony vehicular assault and misdemeanor driving under the influence.

Twenty-seven-year-old actress Alyssa Tabit of North Hollywood, California, was seriously hurt but is recovering.

The Star-Beacon in Ashtabula reports Smith apologized for his actions in court Wednesday.

Smith must also pay nearly $1,400 in fines, attend a driver’s intervention program and speak at every Ashtabula County high school about the dangers of drinking and driving.

His girlfriend getting seriously hurt was enough of a fine.
