Derek Dalton Named GM Of WBBM Chicago

CBS picks the former GM of WHEC Rochester, N.Y., to succeed the retired Marty Wilke as head of its Chicago O&O.

Veteran local television stations executive Derek Dalton has been named president and general manager of CBS O&O WBBM Chicago (DMA 3). He succeeds Marty Wilke, who retired last month. 

Dalton, who has more than 20 years of experience in television stations management, joins WBBM after spending the past seven years as VP-GM of WHEC, Hubbard Broadcasting’s NBC affiliate in Rochester, N.Y.

Dalton’s background includes 11 years with Tribune Broadcasting, beginning with WGN-TV Chicago, where he held several local and Superstation sales roles. After three years in Chicago, he was promoted by Tribune to serve as general sales manager and then VP-GM of KWGN Denver.

His TV stations experience also includes four years as VP-GM of KGTV and KZSD in San Diego. He began his career as a sales executive at WLVI Boston.
