Dish Net Income More Than Doubles In 1Q

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Dish Network, the nation’s second-largest satellite TV broadcaster, is reporting that its first-quarter net income more than doubled to beat Wall Street analysts’ expectations.

The Englewood, Colo., company says it added a net 58,000 subscribers after three quarters of losses. That brings its total to 14.2 million.

Net income rose to $549 million, or $1.22 per share. That’s up from $231 million, or 52 cents per share, a year earlier. Analysts expected 68 cents per share.

Revenue rose 5.5 percent to $3.22 billion.
