Don Dahler To Anchor WCBS Weekend News

Don Dahler has been named anchor of CBS O&O WCBS New York’s weekend morning and evening newscasts, beginning Sept. 10.

Dahler, who previously was co-anchor of the station’s weekday 6 p.m. newscasts, will partner with Cindy Hsu to co-anchor the station’s weekend morning newscasts. He will also solo anchor the station’s weekend evening newscasts. Additionally, both Dahler and Hsu will serve as reporters during weekday newscasts.

Since joining WCBS in September 2007, Dahler has covered numerous major news events, ranging from the ongoing economic crisis, the Miracle on the Hudson and Hurricane Irene.

Previously, he was a correspondent and anchor for ABC News. Prior to ABC News, Dahler was a correspondent for NBC News, where he was assigned to CNBC’s West Coast bureaus.

Before that, Dahler worked as a general assignment reporter for Fox News Channel in New York, where he did investigative pieces and covered national news events.

Prior to becoming an on-air correspondent, Dahler was a producer for 48 Hours at CBS News. Before that, Dahler had his own production company where he produced, wrote and hosted documentaries, nature films and syndicated specials. He started his career as a reporter for WGHP in High Point, N.C.

Dahler graduated summa cum laude from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history.

You omitted that Dandy Don also did a short – VERY short – stint as co-host for ABC’s Good Morning America, much to the chagrin of affiliates who had to field questions from viewers, basically saying WTF? Who the heck is THIS dude? Don’s a good reporter and OK anchor, but no Charlie Gibson or Harry Smith.
