Doreen Wade Named GM Of WSMV Nashville

The former president of Freedom Broadcasting will succeed Elden Hale as head of Meredith’s Nashville NBC affiliate.

Meredith Corp. today named Doreen Wade as vice president and general manager of its NBC affiliate WSMV Nashville (DMA 29). Wade succeeds Elden Hale, who retired this month after nearly 40 years in the broadcasting industry.

Wade most recently was president of Freedom Broadcasting. She was responsible for the daily operations of the television group with stations in Florida, Michigan, New York, Oregon, Tennessee and Texas. Before being promoted to president, Wade served as VP-GM of Freedom’s WPEC West Palm Beach, Fla., and WRGB Albany, N.Y. She started her television management career at WLNE Providence, R.I.

“Doreen possesses extensive local experience and a successful track record in broadcasting management. She is a loyal and committed leader, and I have no doubt that she will mesh well with our dedicated employees at WSMV-TV,” said Paul Karpowicz, president of Meredith’s Local Media Group. “These attributes, and her proven ability to increase ratings and grow revenues, makes her the right fit for Meredith and our important Nashville station.”

Wade serves as a board member for the National Association of Broadcasters and the Open Mobile Video Coalition. Additionally, Wade is a member and past chair of the CBS Television Network Affiliates Association.

She was fired from her previous station because she was useless. Why do people like this get jobs after leaving their old jobs in disgrace? Watch it, she’s going to tank that station just like she did to the Freedom affiliate that fired her. Bad, bad decision Meredith!
