Doug Hill Signs Multi-Year Deal With WJLA

Sinclair-owned ABC affiliate WJLA Washington (DMA 8) announced Monday that Chief Meteorologist Doug Hill has signed a multi-year deal with the station that will keep him on air in the DC market for years to come.

“I am thrilled to have one of the most respected meteorologists in the country as the leader of our weather operation” says WJLA’s Director of News Mitch Jacob. “Doug is a well-regarded figure both outside and inside the newsroom. We’re thrilled to have him on the team.”

Hill has been with the station since 2000 and brings more than 35 years’ forecasting experience — including 30 years in the DC region — to his daily broadcasts.

“ABC7 is my home. I love weather. I love Washington. It just seems like a simple decision to keep doing what I love with the great people we have here at ABC7,” Hill said.

Hill has been honored with a Regional Emmy Award for broadcast excellence. He has also been awarded the “Seal of Approval” from the American Meteorological Society. He attended Towson State College, before he entered the United States Air Force. Most of his four-year tour was spent at Andrews AFB, where he was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal.
