Doug Koontz Named GM Of WKNX

Lockwood Broadcast Group today announced the promotion of Douglas Koontz to general manager of independent WKNX Knoxville, Tenn. (DMA 62). Koontz has been general sales manager for Lockwood at WKNX and its CW affiliate WBXX.

Koontz succeeds Neal Davis, who moved to KAKE. (On Feb. 1, Gray Television and Lockwood closed on the previously announced transaction exchanging Wichita’s ABC affiliate KAKE for WBXX and $11.2 million in cash.)

“WKNX — ‘The Knox’ has been a great success story since Lockwood began programming with entertainment content in 2013. I look forward to building on that success with our business partners as well as viewers, right here in my hometown,” Koontz said.
