Eric Land New WTLV-WJXX Jacksonville GM

The broadcast executive and former COO of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is tapped by Gannett to lead its NBC-ABC duopoly in Florida.

Gannett Broadcasting Division’s WTLV (NBC)-WJXX (ABC) Jacksonville, Fla. (DMA 50), today named Eric Land president and general manager. He succeeds Dodie Cantrell, who retired.

Land has held many leading roles over a number of broadcast properties. His senior management experience in local television includes serving as president and GM of WFLA Tampa, Fla.; WIAT Birmingham, Ala.; and WGRZ Buffalo, N.Y.

In addition, Land is the former chief operating officer of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  He most recently served as president/CEO of Walkabout Air Aviation.

“Eric brings a rich and diverse background of innovation and experience to our duopoly in Jacksonville,” said Lynn Beall, executive vice president of Gannett Broadcasting. “He possesses strong leadership abilities and dynamic business skills that will benefit both WTLV and WJXX. Eric knows how to build brands and has a proven track record of taking major market stations to new levels.”

Land received a Bachelor of Science degree in radio/TV from Ohio University.

Good hire, Gannett. Eric is a second generation broadcaster who has tremendous passion for Television. He should do a great job in Jacksonville.
