Erik Schrader Named WOIO-WUAB VP-GM

The former WIAT Birmingham, Ala., GM will oversee Raycom’s CBS-MNT duopoly in Cleveland.

Erik Schrader today was appointed the vice president and general manager for Raycom Media’s CBS and MNT duopoly WOIO and WUAB Cleveland (DMA 19).

Schrader comes to WOIO and WUAB from WIAT Birmingham, Ala., where he has been GM since 2015.

“We were looking for a person with contemporary skills in building TV and digital audiences, plus a proven ability to foster an inclusive culture for us in Cleveland,” said Raycom Group VP Don Richards. “Erik’s experience in all of these areas, combined with his genuine love and passion for the business, add up to the perfect match.”

Before taking the helm in Birmingham, Schrader was president-GM of KSNW Wichita, Kan., where the station won two Regional Murrow awards. Schrader has also held the News Director position at KSPR Springfield, Mo.; WJCL-WTGS Savannah, Ga.; WNEP Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pa.; and WTNH New Haven, Conn.

Schrader got his start in broadcasting as news director, sports director and news reporter at KODE Joplin, Mo.

He is a graduate of Missouri Southern State University.
