Las Vegas news anchor Sue Manteris, a graduate of Columbine High School and the University of Southern Colorado, has filed a discrimination complaint against NBC affiliate KSNV in Las Vegas and owner Intermountain West Communications.

The complaint alleges Manteris, a native of India, was fired because she is over 40 and non-white.

The suit also alleges other minority staffers at the station, were victims of race, age or gender bias following the hiring of news director Bob Stoldal. Among the allegations: all five minority anchors were forced out and five Caucasian anchors were rehired; female anchors over age 40 were forced out, and news stories portraying minorities in a positive light were axed.

The complaint filed by attorney Gus Flangas notes that Manteris, whose newscast was rated No. 1 in its time period, was “harassed over her desire to be a mother and provide adequate child care for her young son while, at the same time, she was being promoted on-air as “Anchor Mom.”
