"Shortest retirement ever..." tweeted former WXYZ-TV news anchor Stephen Clark on Wednesday.

Pretty close. Just a month after retiring from Detroit's Channel 7, Clark was announced as the new host of the morning drive-time show for WOMC-FM (104.3).

And in another intriguing move, the radio station said a co-host will be revealed April 6.

Clark, who gave his last Channel 7 sign-off at the end of February, will be on the air on WOMC from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. weekdays starting April 2.

In a statement, the former anchor of WXYZ's 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts said,  "Only the legendary WOMC could have brought me out of retirement. I have a unique relationship with the Detroit community from my time on television and I’m looking forward to deepening that connection via daily conversations and direct interactions with listeners every morning on 104.3 WOMC.”

Clark will take over the morning slot that used to be occupied by Bobby Mitchell and Stacey DuFord, whose "Bobby & Stacey Morning Show" was dropped roughly at the end of 2017. It was reported in late January that deejay Jeff Miles, a former host in Boston and San Antonio markets, would serve as an interim  morning host.

WOMC-FM's format is classic hits, drawing generously from the 1980s. It's part of the Entercom media and entertainment company.

When news broke last year about Clark's retirement from Channel 7, he was said to be looking forward to spending more time with his family. He also wrote on Facebook that he wanted to continue to his sideline of writing and performing country music.

Clark posted several comments on Twitter about his new job Wednesday, including a response to a tweet fishing for information on whether his new co-host would be JoAnne Purtan, who did her final noon anchor newscast for WXYZ-TV last week after her contract wasn't renewed.

"We'll be surprised together," Clark replied without confirming or denying it.
