‘Excused’ Renewed For Second Season

The half-hour dating strip from CBS Television Distribution gets the green light for next year.

CBS Television Distribution (CTD) today renewed its first-run syndicated strip Excused for a second season.

“When Excused premiered last fall, it marked the return of the dating genre to syndication,” said Joe DiSalvo, president of sales for CTD. “Stations have found it to be a great alternative to off-network sitcoms in their late fringe and access time periods.”

The half-hour dating strip airs in the top three markets on WWOR New York (Fox), KCAL Los Angeles (CBS) and WCIU Chicago (Weigel).

Hosted by Iliza Shlesinger, the first female and youngest winner of Last Comic Standing, Excused debuted on Sept. 12, 2011. Each episode follows a new group of men competing for the affections of two women (or vice versa). Based on first impressions, profiles and intimate dates, Shlesinger guides the pair of women as they systematically eliminate the group of men down to one. The final man standing then has the opportunity to select the woman he wants to date.  Ultimately, one final couple has the chance for love.

Excused is produced by Renegade 83 Entertainment.
