Fails Named Univision Local Sales SVP

The Spanish-language network promotes Dominic Fails from its Chicago stations.

Univision Communications on Monday today named Dominic Fails senior vice president of local media sales, effective immediately. He will report to UCI’s Chief Local Media Officer John Eck.

“With decades of experience in broadcast sales, Dominic’s expertise in business development and local media sales trajectory — both in Spanish and English media — make him an invaluable asset to UCI,” said Eck. “We’re proud of our many successes across our local markets and with Dominic’s leadership I know we will achieve even more by unlocking untapped potential of the power of our local media assets — especially leading up to the 2016 election cycle.”

Fails most recently was VP-director of sales for Univision’s stations in Chicago. Before joining UCI, he was VP of corporate sales at Journal Broadcast Group, where he was responsible for overseeing sales teams and activity for 14 television and 35 radio stations.

Prior to that, he spent more than seven years as VP of sales with Telemundo’s KTMD Houston and KVDA San Antonio, Texas.

He has also held sales management positions at NBC Universal, WorldNow, Viacom, Enron and Tribune Corp., among others.

Fails holds an MBA from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Arts from Coe College.
