FCC OKs Cowles Purchase Of 7 Mont. TVs

The commission approves the $18 million purchase of Max Media’s Montana stations announced in October.

The FCC has approved Cowles Co.’s $18 million purchase of seven television stations from the Max Media of Montana Co.

Cowles publishes The Spokesman-Review in Spokane, Wash., and owns NBC affiliate KHQ Spokane.

The stations changing hands are: KULR Billings; KTMF with translators in Missoula and Kalispell; KWYB Butte and Bozeman; KFBB Great Falls and KHBB Helena. KULR is an NBC affiliate and the others are ABC/Fox affiliates.

Cowles Montana Media is a wholly owned subsidiary of Cowles Co., a family-owned media, forest products and real estate company.

Kalil & Co. brokered the deal.

In September, Cowles sold three stations to News-Press & Gazette Co. for $21,950,000: KION (CBS) and KMUV-LP (Telemundo) in Monterey-Salinas, Calif., and Fox affiliate KKFX Santa Barbara, Calif.

I wouldn’t mind my idea of wanting Cowles to buy Mark Nalbone’s KTWO and KLWY with both KTWO and KLWY airing KTWO ABC programming on it’s DT1 channel and KFNB being folded into KTWO and air FOX programming on it’s DT2 channel while Gray Television takes control of KGWC/KGWL/KGWR and fold the operations at KCWY with KCWY NBC 13 becoming KCWC NBC 13 and is shown on it’s DT1 channel with CBS being relayed from KGWN from Cheyenne and is shown on it’s DT2 channel. Iw wouldn’t both Cowles dna gray taking control of Mark Nalbone stations with Cowles for the ABC and FOX affiliation in both Casper and Cheyenne and Gray Television for the CBS affiliation in Casper and get connected with the Cheyenne CBS station again since 2004 when Chelsey sold off KCWC to Mark Nalbone Mark 3 Media with KGWN/KSTF being sold off to Sagamore Hill in 2003.

Hey James, it’s been a while since I’ve seen one of your incoherent rants. Have you been consulting for Obamacare while you’ve been gone?
