Following the loss of Nexstar’s WFXW over the network’s demands for programming fees, Fox strikes deal with LIN’s CBS affiliate, WTHI, to carry Fox on a subchannel.

Fox Lines Up New Terre Haute Affiliate
Fox Broadcasting Co. has signed an affiliation agreement with LIN Television Corp., owner of WTHI Terre Haute, Ind. (DMA 152), to launch a new Fox affiliate on a subchannel.
The new station, which is expected to air Sept. 1, will be known as MyFox10. The station will operate out of WTHI’s digital broadcasting studio, leveraging the station’s sales, marketing, engineering and management team.
Fox lost its affiliation in the market in after it couldn’t come to terms with Nexstar over Fox’s proposed programming fees for WFXW (which has since picked up an ABC affiliation and is changing its calls to WAWV).
“LIN is one of FOX’s strongest affiliate groups, and we are thrilled to expand our already successful partnership,” said Jon Hookstratten, Fox EVP, network distribution. “In an ever-changing television marketplace, it’s key that Fox continues to grow our relationships with progressive media companies like LIN. With their track record, we are confident this partnership in Terre Haute will be a big success.”

LIN also owns or operates Fox affiliates in Portsmouth-Norfolk, Va.; Albuquerque, N.M.; Providence, R.I.–New Bedford, Mass.; Mobile, Ala.-Pensacola, Fla.; Green Bay-Appleton, Wis.; and Toledo, Ohio.
