Fox Names Adams GM Of Charlotte Duo

The longtime GM of WGHP Greensboro, N.C., Karen Adams, will take over leadership of WJZY and WMYT once FCC approval comes through on the purchase from Capitol Broadcasting.

Karen Adams today was named VP and general manager of the anticipated Fox duopoly in Charlotte, N.C. (DMA 25) — WJZY (Fox) and WMYT. Effective upon FCC approval of sale of the stations by Capitol Broadcasting, Adams will be responsible for overseeing the stations’ business and operations, reporting to Jack Abernethy, CEO of Fox Television Stations (FTS). Pending FCC approval, FTS has exercised its option to operate the stations pursuant to a time brokerage agreement.

Adams spent the last 16 years as president-GM of WGHP Greensboro, N.C., which was a Fox O&O from 1996 to 2008. Prior to becoming GM, she held a variety of positions at WGHP, including VP of programming, VP of creative services and community involvement and camera operator, which was her first position at the station.

Adams holds a Bachelor of Arts in theater arts from High Point University, N.C.  She serves on the advisory board of the Nido R. Qubein School of Communication at High Point University and recently became a member of the board of the North Carolina Association of Broadcasters.
