Fox O&Os To Air Fla. Gubernatorial Debate

O&Os WOFL Orlando, WTVT Tampa and WOGX Gainesville will originate the debate live on Sept. 29. It will be carried by all Fox stations in the state.

Fox-owned Florida stations WOFL Orlando, WTVT Tampa and WOGX Gainesville will present a live gubernatorial debate on Monday, Sept.29, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

The debate is in partnership with Florida Blue Key and co-sponsors, Bob Graham Center for Public Service and the Florida Law Review.

In making the announcement, Allyson Meyers, VP-GM of WOFL and WOGX said: “On behalf of our stations, we are honored and proud to be producing, moderating and broadcasting an important event between the gubernatorial candidates. We expect that this will be a productive and informative platform for the candidates to discuss where they stand on the key issues.”

The debate will be moderated by WOFL anchor John Brown and WTVT anchor Mark Wilson in front of a studio audience. Audience members will consist of the general public, students, city leaders and media.

Along with topics posed by the moderators, questions can be submitted by the public or attendees via various social media channels. Republican and Democratic nominees are invited to take part in the debate. The debate may also include other candidates who meet the criterion for eligibility to be released at a later date. Gov. Rick Scott has received an invitation, as well as Democratic candidates: former Gov. Charlie Crist and State Sen. Nan Rich.

The debate will broadcast live with 100% participation from all the state’s Fox affiliates.
