Fox Stations Slot Another Summer Test

So-Me, a panel show highlighting “trending news topics,” will run for four weeks starting July 11 on WNYW and WWOR New York, KTTV and KCOP Los Angeles, WDCA Washington, KTVU San Francisco, KSAZ Phoenix and KMSP Minneapolis.

For the third time this week, Fox Television Stations has announced another summer test “preview” of a new show on some of its stations.

This one is called So-Me, described as “a fast-paced syndicated series revolving around the day’s trending news topics,” according to an announcement today issued jointly by FTS and two producing partners, Popsugar and Trifecta Entertainment.

FTS’s test plans call for So-Me to run for four weeks beginning July 11 on Fox-owned WNYW and WWOR New York, KTTV and KCOP Los Angeles, WDCA Washington, KTVU San Francisco, KSAZ Phoenix and KMSP Minneapolis.

The half-hour, five-day-a-week So-Me will have a panel of five millennial-generation hosts who will “break down and give diverse perspectives, from the serious to hilarious, on the biggest trending stories of the day, all through a social media lens,” the companies said.

The hosts are: Sam Schacher, seen on HLN’s Dr. Drew on Call; Nancy Redd, a former Miss Virginia; comedian Tehran Von Ghasri; actress Roseny Carrero; and Brett Ehrlich, host of a comedic news show on the now-defunct Current TV.

“We all know the headlines each day. So-Me gives those headlines context,” said Stephen Brown, EVP, programming and development, FTS. “What are people saying about this event or that person? How is this relevant to my life? Our hosts are like your friends on Facebook engaging in a spirited debate,” he said.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

So-Me is the third test show announced by Brown and FTS this week. The other two are The Jason Show, a talk and entertainment-news show developed for the Fox group at KMSP and hosted by local Minneapolis TV and radio personality Jason Matheson; and Top 30, another daily news show aimed at millennials.

The Jason Show is due to be tested on three Fox-owned stations beginning next Monday (and continuing on KMSP where it has been airing since last August). Top 30 will begin its test on the same day on some Fox-owned stations plus stations owned by Sinclair and Media General.

Starting July 18, FTS stations will also be testing another show, Page Six TV, to be adapted from the New York Post’s famed Page Six gossip section.
