Fox’s WTTG, WDCA To Washington Burb

The Fox-owned duopoly will relocate its operation and studio facilities to a new complex developed by Carr Properties in Bethesda, Md., according to a letter of intent. The stations, which have operated from their current Wisconsin Ave. location since 1966, will move to a new home along the Metro's red line in June 2021.

WTTG and WDCA have entered into a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Carr Properties to relocate operation and studio facilities to 7272 Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda, Maryland.

In making the announcement, Fox VP and GM, Patrick Paolini said, “We are thrilled to move our facilities to Montgomery County, MD. into what will be a grade A complex developed by Carr Properties and we thank the State of Maryland and Montgomery County for making this possible. This will be a state-of-the-art facility that will keep us in the heart of the Washington, D.C. metro area and allow us to better serve our community.”

The Fox duopoly has been in its current location on Wisconsin Avenue since 1966. Effective June 2021, Fox will move to the new Bethesda location at the Carr Properties Apex building, situated right on Metro’s red line. The new state-of-the-art studio and office space will occupy approximately 57,500 square foot of the new Carr property in Montgomery County. Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC), the economic development partner for the county, joined forces with Montgomery County and the State of Maryland to create and facilitate this development.

“Fox Television’s relocation to Maryland is further proof that more and more great companies are recognizing the tremendous value and advantages of doing business here,” said Gov. Larry Hogan. “This move, which brings approximately 200 employees into the state, is a win for our state and for Montgomery County as we continue to attract growing companies like Fox.”

MCEDC President and CEO David Petr, said, “We applaud Fox’s decision to move to Montgomery County, adding jobs and spurring new economic growth. Their choice of downtown Bethesda is masterful, offering a vibrant downtown, walkable community and right on the metro, great accessibility for employees and guests appearing on the station’s programming.”

Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett, noted, “Montgomery County is emerging as a media and entertainment capital, with Discovery Communications and now Fox 5 realizing our many business attributes. We are delighted to welcome them to our community, and look forward to supporting their new facility and continued growth in the County.”

BRAND CONNECTIONS

“We are proud to welcome Fox Television Stations and their growing team to Maryland,” said Maryland Commerce Secretary Mike Gill. “The company’s new offices and studio in Bethesda offers a strategic location from which they can serve their many partners and customers in the region, and we are pleased to be able to work with our partners in Montgomery County to support this important project.”
