On Monday, automated playout specialist, BroadStream Solutions and Digital Alert Systems (DAS) announced a partnership to create a full integration of EAS-Net into its flagship OASYS integrated playout platform.

The full integration with EAS-Net provides an IP-based communication link between the two solutions that avoids the old serial I/O and audio cabling in favor of a simple, yet flexible, networked alternative.

The EAS-Net protocol from DAS streamlines the integration and installation of DASDEC and OASYS with a simple network interface that enables OASYS to handle both playout and EAS alerts. EAS systems are used primarily in the United States, but a growing number of other countries are requiring emergency alert systems as a way of keeping everyone informed when an emergency of any sort has occurred.

This integration will increase broadcaster’s flexibility and improve efficiency while reducing hardware costs since the professional graphics capability is built into the OASYS Playout platform, which means stations don’t have to purchase an external CG so there are fewer pieces of hardware and the audio is managed directly and elegantly without a host of additional cables and connectors.

“We are very pleased to team with Digital Alert Systems on the integration of their EAS/CAP solution into our OASYS Integrated Playout and BEACON Streamlined Playout solutions for our US based customers”, according to Peter Wharton, VP technology & business development, “their EAS solution provides a new level of service to US broadcasters and one we are proud to provide.”

“The sophisticated integration between the DASDEC and OASYS ensures a fast and reliable flow of alert information providing broadcasters with an highly professional package that installs and performs easily and efficiently,” said Bill Robertson, VP of business development at Digital Alert Systems. “The high interoperability of our DASDEC system with industry-leading products, such as OASYS Integrated Playout makes it easier than ever for broadcasters to easily build reliable workflows.”
