Gary Hoipkemier Receives MFM’s Chairman’s Award

Gary Hoipkemier, SVP, CFO, treasurer and secretary of Schurz Communications until his recent retirement, on Monday received the Media Financial Management Association’s (MFM) Chairman’s Award.

Presented in honor of Edward Deichman, a former chairman of MFM’s board of directors and a finance executive at Media General, the Chairman’s Award pays tribute to MFM members who have made long-standing contributions to the association, helping it prosper and expand through their leadership and support.

The award was presented during the opening keynote session of Media Finance Focus 2016, the 56th annual conference for MFM and BCCA.

Hoipkemier, a member of International Newspaper Financial Executives (INFE) before it merged into MFM, joined the organization in 2001 and served on the TV Committee. Elected to association’s board in 2012 for a three-year term, Hoipkemier joined the board committee that developed Media Whys, a new industry-specific credit report that made its debut last spring.

Commenting on Hoipkemier’s selection, Mary Collins, MFM’s president-CEO, said: “He was one of the key drivers for Media Whys, helping us evaluate three different potential information providers, develop the best pricing structure and secure the participation of founding members for the initiative.”
