The new agreement calls for over-the-air and local cable carriage of Sony Pictures TV’s classic TV diginet in 20 markets.

Sony Pictures Television’s classic TV channel getTV has signed a distribution agreement with Media General for both over-the-air and local cable carriage in 20 new markets. Media General will begin rolling out getTV beginning today, Feb. 1.

With the addition of Media General’s affiliates, getTV has local deals in place in 87 markets, 47 of which are in the top 50 DMAs, including new adds in Indianapolis, Grand Rapids, Mich., and Harrisburg, Pa.

The agreement includes carriage on the following Media General stations: KRON San Francisco; KOIN Portland, Ore; WISH Indianapolis; WYCW Spartanburg, S.C.; WOTV Grand Rapids, Mich.; WAVY Norfolk, Va.; WHTM Harrisburg, Pa.; KRQE Albuquerque, N.M.; WPRI Providence, R.I.; WRIC Richmond, Va.; WTEN Albany, N.Y.; WATE Knoxville, Tenn.; KHON Honolulu; WSLS Roanoke, Va.; WNCT Greenville, N.C.; WLNS Lansing, Mich.; WYFX Youngstown, Ohio; KLFY Lafayette, La.; KTKA Topeka, Kan.; and WLFI Lafayette, Ind.

“The response to getTV from viewers and station groups alike has been overwhelmingly positive in our first two years,” said Tom Troy, SVP, distribution, networks, U.S., Sony Pictures Television. “We believe in the continued strength of local broadcasters and these partnerships continue to be an integral part of our growth strategy as a network.”

“We are pleased to add getTV to our high quality entertainment offerings,” said Deb McDermott, Media General’s COO. “Classic television fans will now be able to enjoy the great movie and television entertainment showcased on getTV.”

GetTV announced in December 2015 that in addition to agreements with broadcasters it was taking the network national for the first time through its deal with satcaster, Dish Network. The channel is now live on Dish ch. 373.

Cool…..the last 6 months have been adding up for the Lafayette, Louisiana market…
First it was the lp nexstar station going from MNTV to NBC, then launching a new MNTV
Heroes and Icons launches on the 22.1 and 50.2, they keep antennatv and move it to 32.2 KXKW
Grit replaces This on KPLC 7.2, then rumor has it that Escape is on the 7.4 later….
Now GetTV is on KLFY 10.2 how sweet…

What does having a cable bill have anything to do with my post….All I posted was that I updated on how much changes we had OVER THE AIR in Lafayette. More to come from what I heard but it will be some time. There is nothing in my COMMENT about cable. Foremost I already know OTA is free and better than pay…..but thanks for reminding me of something I been knowing for most of my 46 years…

They’re going to bump Antenna TV in San Francisco for this. It shows that MG cares more about getting compensated for inferior content than what the viewer actually wants.

Huh. So GetTV’s moving from WTVZ to WAVY in my market. Curious if that means WTVZ will move the recently-shifted GRIT from 33.4 to 33.2 or, maybe, putting in something better in that place like Heroes & Icons or Decades.

GetTv is a Movie Channel, not a Classic TV Channel.
