Gina Swanson Named WDSU Weekend Anchor

Hearst-owned NBC affiliate WDSU New Orleans (DMA 51) has promoted Gina Swanson to anchor of the station’s weekend evening newscasts. Swanson’s permanent assignment follows several months in which she has held the position on an interim basis.

In her new role, Swanson anchors WDSU newscasts at 5 and 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Swanson joined WDSU in early 2008 as a general assignment reporter, a move that brought her back to the city in which she was born and raised. She is a graduate of Edna Karr Magnet High School and holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Louisiana State University and a master’s degree from Northwestern University.

Prior to joining WDSU, Gina held reporting and anchoring positions in Monroe, La., and Austin, Texas.
