WITL AWARD WINNER

Honoring Tech Leader Andrea Berry Of Fox

TVNewsCheck’s second annual Women in Technology Leadership Award presentation and reception at the NAB Show last week honored Andrea Berry, the senior vice president of media services for Fox Networks Engineering and Operations.

Andrea Berry, senior vice president of media services at Fox Networks Engineering and Operations, accepted TVNewsCheck‘s Women in Technology Leadership Award on Tuesday, April 17, at the NAB Show in Las Vegas. “Technology and leadership are my passions,” said Berry, addressing a standing-room-only crowd of nearly 200 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

“When we created the Women in Technology Leadership Award, we sought the advice of key women in media technology,” said Kathy Haley, publisher of NewsCheckMedia, TVNewsCheck‘s parent. “They told us ‘we don’t need just another cocktail party. What we want is to recognize the accomplishments of women in technology. We want education programs, and we want to support efforts to improve math and science education for girls.

“What’s fascinating about our honorree this year, is that she embodies all three of these goals.”

Berry oversees digital media management at Fox, the Fox Sports Media Group, Fox Networks Group, Twentieth TV and MyNetworkTV. She also mentors young managers at Fox and champions a computer science discovery camp for adolescent girls in Chicago.

Co-presented by the Alliance for Women in Media, the Women in Technology Leadership Award turns a spotlight on the accomplishments of women in media technology. It supports the NAB Education Foundation’s Technology Apprenticeship Program, which attracts graduating engineers to broadcast technology careers.
