IBC 2011: SGL Products Preview

2011 IBC Show Preview
SGL
Stand 7.J15a

SGL will showcase the next-generation of archiving, which for the first time will provide true interoperability between systems from different vendors including FlashNet and non-FlashNet systems. SGL will show key features to FlashNet 6.4 highlighting its open system architecture and the benefits of providing reliable, scalable solutions with substantial cost and workflow improvements for broadcasters, post production facilities and news/sport organisations. The company will also highlight its support for the latest version of Avid Interplay 2.3.

IBC 2011 sees the European introduction of FlashNet support for the innovative system for writing data to the LTO Program (HP, IBM & Quantum) Linear Tape File System (LTFS). Traditionally, data written to a media archive is done so in a proprietary way, which means there is no interoperability between systems from different vendors. However, this is no longer the case with the advent of LTFS. Specific to the LTO-5 tape format and all future LTO tape formats LTFS enables true interoperability between what were once disparate systems. As well as the broadcast sector, this approach has wide implications for post-production and acquisition workflows where content can be acquired to disk on location, dragged and dropped to data tape and then the tape transported back to a facility.
