Indy Star Columnist Bob Kravitz Joins WTHR

Dispatch Broadcast Group’s NBC affiliate WTHR Incianapolis (DMA 26) has hired outspoken Indianapolis Star writer Bob Kravitz.

WTHR President-GM Larry Delia said: “Bob’s reputation and unique insight into Indiana sports at all levels will be a vital addition to our sports department, both online and on-air. We’re very pleased he’s making the move.”

Kravitz joins the sports team headed by Sports Director Dave Calabro. In addition to creating original digital content for WTHR.com, Kravitz will also contribute commentary to WTHR’s coverage of pro, college and high school sports in newscasts, and be a part of sports programming like the recently announced Pat McAfee Show, as well as additional projects.

Kravitz said: “I’ll be writing four or five pieces a week and doing some TV work for as long as they can stand my mug on their airwaves. I also hope everyone comes and finds me at WTHR.com. No paywalls!”

Kravitz is a graduate of Indiana University, and worked at Sports Illustrated, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, and Denver’s Rocky Mountain News before joining the Indianapolis Star in 2000.

That’s exactly what WDRB in Louisville did two years ago with Rick Bozich and Eric Crawford when they were hired from the Courier-Joirnal. It worked out very well for WDRB and I’m sure it will for WTHR too.
