Investigative Reporter Kathy Curran Joins WCVB

Investigative reporter Kathy Curran has joined Hearst’s ABC affiliate WCVB Boston (DMA 7). Curran will work full-time with Team 5, WCVB’s investigative unit.

Curran has been a crime and investigative reporter for more than 20 years, 16 years in Boston. Curran has won three Boston/New England Emmy Awards: Outstanding Reporter –Investigative in 2012, On-Camera Talent Reporter-Investigative in 2009 and Outstanding Investigative Report in 2009.  She received Emmy nominations every year since 1999, recognized for her reporting as well as categories including Spot News, Individual Craft-writing, and Feature Reporting as well.

“We are excited to have such a talented and hard-hitting investigative journalist join our team,” said WCVB President-GM Bill Fine. Added WCVB News Director Andrew Vrees: “Kathy’s track record of uncovering abuses of the system makes her a natural addition to our award winning investigative group.”

Curran was an Investigative Reporter for WGME Portland, Maine, prior to working in Boston. Curran started her broadcast journalism career as a general assignment reporter/photographer for WAFF Huntsville, Ala.
