Ivi TV Files FOIA Request With The FCC

Seattle-based  ivi TV, the live streaming television company enmeshed in a protracted legal battle with broadcast TV companies, has filed a Freedom of Information Act request to obtain all correspondence, files, records and e-mails of FCC Commissioner Meredith Attwell Baker and her staff which relate in any way to ivi Inc. and its brand, ivi TV.

Baker recently announced her intention to leave the commission to become senior vice president for governmental relations for Comcast Inc. ivi said: “Many citizen groups have commented negatively on Baker’s transition from being a regulator to lobbying on behalf of those she regulated. That is particularly the case with Baker and Comcast as her vote in favor of the Comcast-NBCU merger was the most talked about decision of her FCC tenure.”

Ivi said that in December of 2010, ivi and its representatives met with Baker and one of her staff members. The purpose of the visit was to register ivi’s opposition to the Comcast-NBCU merger. ivi also raised issues concerning Net neutrality. “It was clear during the visit,” ivi said, “that Commissioner Baker and her staff were staunch supporters of the merger, and, in fact, her staff member read from a script which appeared to be prepared by Big Media attorneys.”
