Jack Smedile Joins NAB Govt. Relations

The former policy adviser to Sen. Roy Blunt becomes the association’s VP of government relations on Nov. 4.

Jack Smedile will join the National Association of Broadcasters Nov. 4 as vice president of government relations, the association announced today. Smedile will report to NAB EVP of Government Relations Kelly Cole.

Smedile, 30, comes to NAB after four years on Capitol Hill with Senate Commerce Committee member and vice chairman of the Senate Republican Conference Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), where he was the Senator’s policy adviser on telecommunications, technology and transportation issues. Prior to his tenure with Blunt, Smedile was a legislative assistant to Rep. Paul Broun (R-Ga.) and Legislative Director to Rep. Kenny Hulshof (R-Mo).

“Jack has been an integral part of my legislative team as an experienced legislative aide with in-depth knowledge on a variety of issues including commerce, telecommunications, and technology,” Blunt said. “I appreciate Jack’s service in the House and Senate and to the state of Missouri, and I’m confident he’ll excel in his new role.”

NAB said Smedile brings to the association “an expertise on media, spectrum and Internet issues and a deep understanding of broadcast legislative and regulatory challenges.”

Smedile holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Saint Louis University.
