Jankowski, Granath, West Among LAB Giants

The annual luncheon and ceremony honoring individual contributions to media will take place Oct. 15 at Gotham Hall in New York.

The Library of American Broadcasting Foundation’s Giants of Broadcasting and the Electronic Arts luncheon will honor this year’s class of inductees on Thursday, Oct. 15, at Gotham Hall in New York. A reception begins at 11:30 a.m., with the luncheon and awards ceremony at 12:30 p.m.

Honorees at the annual event, presented by the International Radio and Television Society Foundation, will include Gene Jankowski, longtime CBS executive; Herb Granath, Disney/ABC/ESPN veteran; Don West, legendary editor of Broadcasting & Cable and former LAB Foundation president; Mel Karmazin, who oversaw Infinity Broadcasting, CBS and SiriusXM Radio; Jarl Mohn, CEO of NPR; Bill Persky, Emmy-winning TV director, writer, producer and actor; and the pioneering black radio broadcasters of the family-run Carter Broadcast Group. Additional honorees will be announced in the near future.

The Giants luncheon honors those who have contributed greatly to the industry, while supporting the historical preservation work of the Library of American Broadcasting at the University of Maryland, as well as the training and diversity initiatives of the International Radio and Television Society Foundation.
