The station management executive is chosen by Local TV to lead its ABC affiliate in Davenport-Rock Island, Iowa-Moline, Ill.

Local TV-owned ABC affiliate WQAD Davenport-Rock Island, Iowa-Moline, Ill. (DMA 99), on Monday named media sales and operations veteran Jim Kizer as its president and general manager. He fills the slot that Larry Rosmilso left open when he retired in April of 2012. Local TV’s Dale Woods, GM of WHO Des Moines, has been overseeing the station since then.

Kizer, whose appointment takes effect today, brings a long history of business development, sales management and station operations to the market.

He joins the station following sales stints at companies ranging from NRS Media, Tribune Interactive, Insight  Media/Comcast Spotlight, The WB and World Now. He honed his station skills as general manager at a variety of Federal Broadcasting stations before ascending to the COO spot, where he ran the company until its sale.

“Jim has a wide lens on our industry,” says Bobby Lawrence, Local TV LLC chief executive officer. “He has it all — sales, interactive, operations and product backgrounds. We’re thrilled he’s joining the team.”
