Joe Hengemuehler Named KOLD VP-GM

Raycom promotes the Tucson CBS affiliate’s former news director from interim GM to succeed the retired GM Nick Ulmer.

Raycom Media today promoted Joe Hengemuehler to VP-GM of CBS affiliate KOLD Tucson, Ariz. (DMA 71).

Previously Hengemuehler was the station’s news director, and since the December 2016 retirement of Nick Ulmer, Hengemuehler has served as KOLD’s interim general manager.

“As news director, Joe’s leadership was evident immediately,” said Brad Streit, Raycom group VP for Media. “Following Nick Ulmer’s retirement, Joe served as interim general manager. He quickly demonstrated his ability to grasp the job, lead on a broad scale and tackle unique problems and opportunities with sound judgment. He has earned the trust and respect of those who work with him.”

Prior to KOLD, Hengemuehler was interim communications director for the City of Glendale, AZ; news director of KNXV Phoenix; news director at KOCO Oklahoma City; and senior executive producer at WUSA Washington.

Hengemuehler has also taught journalism ethics and diversity at The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Arizona State University, and previously was the owner of Joe Hengemuehler Consulting and Principal for My Best Content.

Hengemuehler studied at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

I am “astounded “ to see KOLD Tucson represented by Lisa Villegas. Her attire is so form hugging that it reveals private areas of her body. This was particularly evident this evening at 4:30 weather forecast. It is 4:58 and she is on. I do not appreciate her lack of taste.
