John DeSimone New WMSN Madison GM

Sinclair Broadcast Group’s Fox affiliate WMSN Madison, Wis. (DMA 82), has named John DeSimone general manager.  

In making the announcement, Steve Marks, co-chief operating officer of Sinclair’s television group,

Said: “John has a proven track record of inspiring his sales teams and providing them with the appropriate support and systems to be successful while building relationships with key clients, which resulted in increased billings and revenue shares at the stations he was leading. We are excited to have him join the Sinclair team at WMSN.”

DeSimone has been VP-GM of national sales at Azteca America since 2011. Prior to that, he was VP-director of sales for WXTV (Univision) and WFUT (TeleFutura), both New York.

From 2001 to 2005, he was the VVP, national sales at Univision and from 2000 to 2001 he was the director, business development at WNJU (Telemundo) New York.

DeSimone has held various other sales positions including director of sales, Eastern region at Univision; SVP, new business at College Television Network; VP, local sales manager at WNYW New York; VP of sports sales at Cable Networks Inc. and VP, group sales manager at Katz Television.

He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business and public administration from City College of New York.
