John Hurley To Retire As KTVQ President-GM

Veteran broadcast executive John Hurley will on Dec. 31. Hurley has led Cordillera Broadcasting’s CBS affiliate KTVQ Billings, Mont. (DMA 166), since 2009 and has more than 40 years of broadcast and cable experience.

Prior to joining Cordillera, Hurley held management positions with leading organizations including Comcast, Raycom Media, Benedek Broadcasting and Busse Broadcasting.

His background also includes running The Hurley Co., which provided sales representation to television stations in a six-state region, and managing MMT Marketing in Minneapolis.

Hurley attended The University of Minnesota and plans to return to his native Minnesota upon retirement.

“It has been a great ride, and I’m especially fortunate to conclude at a market-leading and highly-respected station like KTVQ,” Hurley said. “Cordillera has provided resources and people to allow Q-2 and our other Montana stations to fulfill their mission of local news and community service. The dedicated people here are a privilege and pleasure to work with and I’ll certainly miss them.”

His strong leadership and commitment to his employees and the communities KTVQ serves will be sorely missed. Cordillera and I will miss John and we wish him a long and happy retirement.”

A search for Hurley’s successor is underway.
