Johnson To Head Tribune Bcstg. Digital Media

Devin Johnson will lead the broadcast group’s product development, social media, content, technology and digital sales strategy.

Tribune Broadcasting today named Devin C. Johnson SVP, head of digital media. He will be responsible for product development, social media, content, technology and digital sales strategy.

Johnson, who began his media career at Tribune Interactive, will return to Tribune on March 10, reporting to Larry Wert, president/broadcast media.  

 

After leaving Tribune, Johnson spent seven years at NBCUniversal in financial and digital roles.  He worked in the corporate financial planning and analysis group and led the digital media finance team. 

Johnson also led NBCU’s digital innovation efforts, where he was responsible for developing new business models in mobile and gaming. His last role at NBCU was general manager of Digital Works @NBCU, the company’s content marketing business responsible for launching successful content ventures with Procter & Gamble. 

Johnson also served as chief operating officer for Studio One Networks where he was responsible for operational oversight of the brand-aligned content creation and distribution company.  Since arriving back in Chicago, Johnson has been a principal at a Silicon Valley-based digital media consultancy and has been advising local start-ups.

Johnson holds an MBA in business administration from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Michigan.
