Jonathan Shelley New WPTA News Director

Quincy Media recruits him from WDSU New Orleans. He begins heading news operations at the Fort Wayne multi-affil on Aug. 25.

 

Quincy Media-owned ABC, NBC, CW and MNT affiliate WPTA Fort Wayne, Ind. (DMA 111), has added Jonathan Shelley as news director, beginning Aug. 25. He succeeds Alan Wagmeister whose last day was Aug. 15.

Shelley has spent 25 years in broadcast journalism, most recently as news director of WDSU in New Orleans for nine years. During his tenure, the station was recognized with the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Television Political Journalism, two National Headliner Awards, two Sigma Delta Chi Awards, two Gabriel Awards and numerous Edward R. Murrow and Emmy awards, including the honor for overall News Excellence in the Suncoast Region.

Shelley received a B.S. in journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
