Journal Adds Gay As Interactive Media VP

Journal Broadcast Group, a division of Journal Communications, on Tuesday announced that Michael J. Gay was named VP of interactive media. In this role, Gay will lead the design and implementation of digital initiatives across all of Journal’s television and radio properties.

Gay joins Journal from Hearst Television where he was corporate executive producer for digital media for five years and will report directly to Steven J. Smith, chairman-CEO.

“Our broadcast digital business is growing and is an important priority for us,” said Smith. “Michael’s experience at Hearst Television, WBBM-TV and other stations will help us sharpen our focus on this strategic objective.”

Before Hearst, he was Web manager for WBBM Chicago. He also spent time in broadcast internet roles at KRON San Francisco and WLNS and WILX, both Lansing, Mich.

He holds an Internet marketing master’s degree from Full Sail University and a telecommunications bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University.
