Joy Purdy Rejoins WJXT As Evening Anchor

Joy Purdy is rejoining WJXT Jacksonville, Fla. (DMA 48), and will anchor weeknights at 5:30, 6:30 and 11 p.m. with Rob Sweeting.

She returns to her former station later this month. Purdy was a weekend anchor and reporter at WJXT from 1995 to 2000. She left to anchor newscasts at WFOR Miami.

After leaving television earlier this year, she spent time with her young children and saw her stepdaughter graduate from the University of North Florida before deciding to return to television news.

Newscasts there are so structured, even facial expressions are scripted out. It’s a great station but Joy will be forced into being another channel 4 automaton. So much for her very short retirement form First Coast News.
